SALTURA CREATES SUSTAINABLY MADE APPAREL INSPIRED BY LIFE ON THE COAST
FROM COAST TO COAST
After living in New York City for over a decade, we moved our families to California in search of a more balanced, sunnier life.
We found our tribe - people that worked hard, had interesting careers, and managed to integrate activities seamlessly into their daily lives and took full advantage of the beauty of the environment.
We surf, hike, bike, sail and simply enjoy the coast at its fullest.
What we couldn't find was apparel appropriate for our new coastal lifestyle with a more modern, timeless and grown up aesthetic. So instead of complaining about it, we set out to create it.
EAT LOCAL. DRINK LOCAL. DRESS LOCAL.
Simply put, we believe that clothing designed to embrace the California lifestyle shouldn’t be made in China, Bangladesh, India or anywhere else for that matter.
Instead, we prefer to think about it the same way that we think about food and wine. Not only does the locally grown organic stuff taste better, it’s also better for the community, the local economy and the environment.
Which is why we design, source, and manufacture all of our apparel along a ninety-mile stretch of the California coast, from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara. This way, we meet people in our factories in person and build meaningful relationships with everyone that touches our garments before they hit the shelves.
Eat local. Drink local. Dress local. That’s our motto.
Whether its creating our own fabric or reclaiming fabrics that would otherwise end up in a landfill, we set out to find the best of the crop and turn it into clothing that is affordable, comfortable and is built to last.
We use organic cotton wherever we can, as conventional cotton is the most pesticide-laden crop in the world, using over 25% of the world’s chemical fertilizers and pesticides even though it is planted in only 3% of the world’s farmland. Organic cotton keeps these chemicals out of the ecosystem and away from your skin.
We pay close attention to our washing and dying processes to make sure we deliver the softest, most eco-friendly garments that feel amazing.
